Iraq's licensed route for medicines
A scientific bureau is the licensed office that brings a manufacturer's products into Iraq: it registers them with the Ministry of Health, imports them, and takes responsibility for how they are stored and sold.
Kawkab Scientific Bureau does this for the manufacturers in our portfolio, from Baghdad, with its own warehouses, vehicles and wholesaler network across the country. Kawkab Scientific Bureau has distributed medicines in Iraq since 2008 and was the first Iraqi distributor to bring its warehouses up to European and US-FDA Good Distribution Practice.
Every shipment we handle is covered by a quality management system conforming to ISO 9001:2015 and GDP.

Good Distribution Practice, in every warehouse
Our main warehouses were upgraded in 2013 to European and US-FDA GDP principles. This is the path every product takes from the receiving door to the pharmacy.

Receiving
Shipments arrive through a dedicated receiving door with a dock leveller, separate from dispatch and storage.

Quarantine
Every batch is held in the quarantine warehouse until the Ministry of Health issues its release certificate.

Release
Released products move to the release warehouse. Anything that fails analysis is isolated in the non-conforming area.

Storage
Pallet racking on epoxy floors, each location tied by number to our Microsoft Dynamics ERP with product, quantity and batch.

Dispatch
Orders are prepared, checked and documented by batch, then loaded through the shipping door under controlled temperature and humidity.
Our quality policy commits the bureau to a quality management system conforming to ISO 9001:2015 and GDP. Staff are responsible for identifying customer, statutory and regulatory requirements, objectives are set and reviewed by management, and training is an integral part of meeting them.
